Over the years we have put together a list of tips for selecting images for our customised calendars. These cover many of the most commonly asked questions and some of the frequently found errors related to the creation and output of these calendar. Whilst this list is extensive it is not conclusive, so if you have a hint or tip you think we should include please send it to us at info@taylerati.co.uk today.
TopSending in photographs If you are sending photographs for your calendar, through the post, make sure you package them carefully to avoid them bending or creasing. A good method is to sandwich them between two pieces of card and send this in a padded or hard backed envelope. Ensure you clearly mark the envelope "Photographs Do Not Bend". We will return all your photographs with your calendars. TopWhat size are the calendars The standard personal calendars are A4 when folded and A3 when hanging on the wall. The picture section is at the top and the dates at the bottom. TopSending Digital Images Digital images should be sent 300dpi at A4 (210x297mm) for best results. Jpeg files will have a good compression ratio to keep the physical size down. It should be noted that some care should be taken with JPEG settings as they can seriously affect the quality of the viewed or printed image if set incorrectly. There are many good guides to this available on line. TIFF and BMP files will tend to be a larger size for the same image.Normally the best quality setting on a 2 mega-pixel camera is fine. You can send lower quality images but the results may look more grainy. Once you have placed your order you can then either post us a CD with the images or you can e-mail them to calendars@printbynet.net. Don't forget to name all the images so that we know which order to print them in. Please do not ask us to print them in the order they appear on your CD/e-mail as this may be different from the order on your computer TopBlurred or unsharp images If your photographs were blurred when you took them your calendars will be too. This is especially true if we need to enlarge them. Please note that we do not offer a colour correction or photographic retouching service. TopChoosing images carefully Think carefully before you send your images. Are you sure they are going to be pictures you'll want to look at all year? If you are distributing the calendars make sure you own the rights to reproduce the images. TopLandscape or portrait Calendars are printed in landscape format (wide rather than tall). This means that landscape pictures will fill your picture area but portrait pictures will have a wider border on the left and right sides. See images on the right. TopCalendar colour Calendars from PrintByNet now come in four colours rather than just one. Your choices are now yellow, white, pink and blue. Please don't forget to specify which colour you want when ordering.
